Collin College Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Mark Smith as the new vice president/provost of the McKinney Campus (Central Park) during the Sept. 24 board meeting.

Smith was the vice president of educational services at Temple College, where he served in a number of roles such as chief academic officer and associate vice president of distance education. Smith also served as the president of Cloud County Community College in Kansas.

Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in business and an MBA in Executive Leadership from William Carey University. He also holds a Ph.D. in Education from Capella University.

Collin College serves more than 59,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates. The only public college based in Collin County, Collin College is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and workforce development. In addition, the college operates the Collin Higher Education Center, which has an enrollment of 3,500 each year in partnership with The University of Texas at Dallas, Texas Woman’s University, Texas A&M Commerce, Texas Tech and the University of North Texas.
