The McKinney Public Library System Summer Reading Program begins June 1

The McKinney Public Library System is encouraging adults and children alike to explore places unknown during their “Build a Better World!” summer reading program starting June 1.

This year, kick-off the summer reading program with a truck rodeo June 2 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the John & Judy Gay Library, 6861 W. Eldorado Pkwy., and 3—4:30 p.m. at the Roy & Helen Hall Memorial Library, 101 E. Hunt St. The truck rodeo will feature our local superheroes where children can explore emergency vehicles from the City of McKinney Police and Fire Departments.

To sign-up for the reading program, visit one of the libraries or online through Beanstack. Readers are encouraged to keep track of their reading minutes in the Beanstack log from June 1 to Aug. 11. In addition to the kick-off event, both McKinney libraries will have several family-friendly programs and events throughout the summer to help encourage a love of reading.
