C/LCpl Aliyanarah Fortuna, McKinney High School Student, honored by local Daughters of the American Revolution

 

The Daughters of the American Revolution, John Abston Chapter, has awarded an ROTC Bronze Medal to McKinney HS student C/LCpl Aliyanarah Fortuna on Thursday, April 19.  The ROTC Medal is awarded to student cadets of outstanding ability and achievement in ROTC programs of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corp.  Recipients are selected because they have demonstrated loyalty and patriotism, while earning a record of military and scholastic achievement during their participation with an ROTC program.  Students must be in the upper 25% of their classes in ROTC and in academic subjects.  They must also show qualities of dependability and good character, adherence to military discipline, leadership ability and a fundamental and patriotic understanding of the importance of ROTC training.  One award recipient from a McKinney High School is selected annually.  

C/LCpl Aliyanarah Fortuna was honored by Regent Missy McPherson, DAR members Teena Humpries, and Karen Thompson.
