Frisco, TX – Back to school will look very different this year, but Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County (BGCCC) is committed to being here for the community now more than ever.

In close partnership with the Frisco, McKinney and Plano Independent School Districts, BGCCC has designed a Youth Virtual Support Program to ensure that the county’s youth have an additional support system during their virtual class study. Starting September 8 through October 16, BGCCC will serve K-8th grade from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Frisco, McKinney and Plano club locations.

Recognizing that many students do not have access to a safe place with adequate Wi-Fi and adult supervision during the day, BGCCC has stepped up to provide all-day support including homework help, internet access, and peer-to-peer engagement in a safe, adult-supervised environment. In addition, their Club sites will provide enrichment programming such as tutoring, STEM learning, art, character building and health & fitness. The Clubs will follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) safety procedures to provide a clean healthy environment, where parents can feel confident their youth are safe while continuing their learning.

“During these challenging times, the Boys & Girls Club of Collin County recognizes that a tremendous burden has been placed on the shoulders of families in the community. By providing this Virtual Support Program, we want to ease that burden and ensure that all kids have equal access to the resources they need to be productive and successful in their learning,” said BGCCC CEO Marianne Radley. “We know this will put a strain on our operating budget, but we also know that this is the right thing to do for the community. To provide this type of support really speaks to the heart of our mission: to enable all youth, especially those in the most need, to reach their full potential.”

Even in these uncertain and challenging times, BGCCC continues to remain a valuable resource to the youth, parents and families of Collin County.
