Alternative Education Options for 2020-21
McKINNEY, TX -- As the Texas Education Agency and School districts release their plans for the 2020-21 school year it is becoming more clear that Ovation Academy of Performing Arts has been ahead of the curve in the education environment. The hybrid education model encouraged by many education experts along with other recommended scheduling and safety measures have been present at Ovation Academy since its inception in 2018. “Small class sizes and individualized learning models have been our focus since day one. Allowing each student to learn how they are most successful is our goal” says Angi Burns, Academy Director of the McKinney based private school.
With so much ambiguity in how public schools will manage the health and safety of the students and staff, a small school with various learning platforms is ideal for many families. Ovation Academy will continue to offer the Conservatory Academy for 6-12th grades who are college and career bound in the performing arts but will expand the Homeschool program to include academics and virtual learning. “Our homeschool program is open to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade whether they are seeking a career in the arts or not. It is designed to supplement their chosen curriculum (even public school distance learning) with fine arts enrichment. For middle and high schoolers it can additionally assist in the core subject areas that may be challenging for parents to do on their own” adds Burns.
Kathryn Ross, parent of an Ovation Academy Freshman and Sophomore, claims, “Ovation Academy has the perfect set up for my boys to succeed during this crazy time in education. They are still able to participate in the things that they are passionate about without sacrificing their education and best of all I can still work without fear of leaving them home alone to figure it all out on their own. My oldest is going into his third year with Ovation as a Musical Theatre major but my youngest was still in public school. With the new options available for students who are not necessarily college or career bound they can both benefit from the safe and positive learning environment at Ovation this year”.
There are two remaining information sessions to learn more about the unique offerings at Ovation Academy, July 18th and August 14th. Families must register on their website, www.ovationapa.org, for the link to attend the sessions. Enrollment is limited.
