MCKINNEY, TX -- Oktoberfest celebrations look different across the globe and McKinney, TX is no exception. Luckily, Downtown McKinney has created an opportunity for the community to celebrate Oktoberfest while maintaining social distancing and supporting local small businesses.

Good times will be had in Historic Downtown McKinney at the McKinney Oktober Bier Walk Presented by Davis at the Square on Saturday, October 3rd from noon until 7pm.  Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy 20 unique craft beers that will be set up in the small businesses throughout Downtown.

“We’ve hosted these social distanced walks throughout the summer and they’ve really made a difference for downtown merchants.” said Lauren Stephan, McKinney resident and owner of SBG Hospitality. “We hope people will wear their lederhosen and dirndls and get in the Oktoberfest spirit with us; Even while social distancing we can still make some great memories.”

The McKinney Oktober Bier Walk will feature an outdoor market with local boutiques and businesses. Along the walk participants can enjoy German Folk and Polka music. The popular Oktoberfest band Brave Combo will be playing from 2pm-3:30pm and the strolling accordionist can be found throughout the day.

To top off the experience participants can pre-purchase an Oktoberfest food box complete with brats, pretzels, and all the traditional Oktoberfest goodies. Food must be pre-purchased in advance and will be picked up from CT Provisions restaurant located close to the outdoor market.

The McKinney Oktober Bier Walk costs only $30 and includes a signature taster and a map that sends participants on the self guided beer tasting journey.  Participants are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as the other walks have all sold out. Tickets are very limited for social distancing: https://mckinneybierwalk.eventbrite.com

The McKinney October Bier Walk is in partnership with Embrace Texas. The worthy nonprofit partner will have volunteers at each of the unique registration areas ready to greet guests as they arrive. Volunteers are still needed and receive some great perks. Anyone interested can register to volunteer HERE.

Logistics have been carefully planned to follow social distancing guidelines. Details such as requiring participants to choose an arrival time, required masks, starting participants at different locations and merchants following the occupancy guidelines are just a few of the logistics to make sure the community is keeping safe while they are having fun.

Tickets are sure to sell out as they are very limited. Don’t miss out on the fun in Downtown McKinney. More info can be found here: https://mckinneybierwalk.eventbrite.com
