Arts events featured this Saturday

Garret Art Gallery – will be featuring McKinney artist, Pattie Bowler, Feb. 9 - March 6, 2013. Pattie is an abstract artist that started painting shortly before she retired from United Airlines as a flight attendant. Primarily working with water media on canvas and paper, her inspiration comes from the heart and experiences in her life. The ideas are formulated as the piece develops. The most influential on her development as an artist has been her association with other artists and the energy it produces.

She is an award winning artist and a member of many art organizations including Southwestern Watercolor Society and Richardson Civic Art Society. Come and see these vibrant pieces of art. The opening reception and Meet the Artist will be Feb. 9 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Imaging on the Square – is featuring various local artists, showcasing their many different mixes and mediums throughout the evening.

Laura Moore Fine Art Studios – Laura Moore Fine Art Studios presents "Jeffrey K. Jensen: Street Level" The exhibition boasts over 40 impressionistic realism watercolor paintings featuring street scenes from varied locations.

Jensen's travels have afforded him the opportunity to witness the many diverse cultures, people, and traditions of locations all around the world. His passion for architecture and the built environment has fueled his 30 year love affair of trying to capture the very essence and mood of some of those memories on paper. He is equally comfortable with capturing the spontaneous play of light and its effect on color and texture with his various urban landscapes. Most of his work is small as his primary studio is often an airplane seat during his work travels. His small sensitively rendered watercolors provide a lasting glimpse of everyday street scenes.

Jensen is a design principal for HKS Architects and a 30 year veteran in the design industry. He is presently design director for HKS Hospitality and has led the design and overall project delivery of hotel and resort projects throughout the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Spain and Asia. In addition, he has taught watercolor workshops and has lectured at both national and international symposia and conferences.

Meet Jensen on opening night of Street Level on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Street Level will be on display through March 6.

Orisons Fine Art & Framing Gallery – will be featuring two wonderful receptions from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Chester, the delightful cat that has adopted Chestnut Square, has also inspired L.C. Tobey, and a team of four young people from the Arts and Music Guild to devote hours and hours to telling his story in word and image. The result is a charming children’s book that will support Chestnut Square and the Arts and Music Guild. Orisons is pleased to introduce the first printing with a reception for the creative team, L.C Tobey, Carissa Pelouch, Logan Larsen, Stevie Glew and Madison Doak. Originals of the illustration will be on display. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase.

Also, being featured is Selected Works by Terry Prescott. Luminous colors and lush brushwork distinguish the landscapes and still life paintings of Terry Prescott. Prescott mixes his own paints, using pigments and resins from around the world. His canvases reflect his extensive study of theory and Old Masters techniques. Meet the artist and enjoy food and refreshments.

Main Street Magic & Fun Company – will feature amazing magician Doc Grimes and Friends ... as they will be sharing a little magic and spirit, well, we hope so anyway.
