McKINNEY (February 11, 2020) — E.J. Wills, an award-winning restaurant on McKinney’s west side, is honored to announce another commendation. The Gastropub’s widely acclaimed Garbage Burger has been listed as #21 among the 50 Best Burgers in North Texas for 2019. The annual list, compiled by popular food critic Trey Chapman, is a result of more than 200 burgers sampled across 135 locations with thousands of miles traveled across the northern part of Texas.
E.J. Wills’ Garbage Burger is 8 ounces of locally sourced ground brisket, short rib, and choice chuck prepared with jack cheese, sliced turkey, red leaf lettuce, sliced tomato, red cabbage slaw, jalapeño bacon, and macaroni & cheese. It is then topped with house cheese sauce, fried onion & jalapeño mix and served with loaded tater tots, which are layered with cheddar cheese, thick cut Applewood bacon, tomato, jalapeno, diced red onion, and avocado ranch dressing.
Since the restaurant first opened in 2016—in its original Dallas location—the Dallas Observer, Jack FM, and the blog Thrillist have each spotlighted the Garbage Burger. The burger also helped E.J. Wills win first place in the Best Burger competition from the Dallas A-List in 2017. After moving to McKinney in 2018, the restaurant earned an Outstanding Burger Award in 2019 from Lux Life magazine.
According to Chapman, the Garbage Burger is “stacked high, phat, and very delicious! Get to EJ’s and try this burger perfection creation!”
