Art events featured this Saturday:

Garret Art Gallery – will be featuring Rebecca Pelley McWatters, Rebecca expresses what art means to her in one word, "JOY." She has been a student of art thru the years beginning at Baylor University, Internationally in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and at local colleges in Dallas. She has had the good fortune to have studied under and been mentored by excellent regional artists. Art is not limited by time or boundaries.

Early on she was influenced by a diverse group of artists like Impressionists Van Gogh, Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec and American Regionalists Norman Rockwell and Winslow Homer. Her studies led to a greater understanding of the world of abstract and nonrepresentational artists such as Picasso, Jackson Pollock and Matisse.

Upon her personal path, she hopes to paint life boldly. This is her sacred corner where she prays before she paints. Rebecca's expressive work reflects her abundant experiential blessings captured with vibrant colors and liberated brush. She hopes her work will express joy to you and encourage you to discover the source of joy and power in your life's journey.

Imaging on the Square – is featuring local artists Linda Kinsley and Helen Baily as well as a few other special guest artists. They will all be on hand showcasing their many different mixes and mediums throughout the evening.

Laura Moore Fine Art Studios – presents "The Vortex Between Light and Dark" an exhibition that grapples with the moment where a habit moves from moderation to obsession. Arshad's energetic and vivacious mediums to large-scale oil on canvas works project a cheeriness that belies an undercurrent of a darker nature. For several years now artist Waleed Arshad has become preoccupied with the indulgent pastimes that seem to court, compete for and consume our waking moments. In a land of excess examples from Facebook to fitness regimes to alcohol consumption seem to emerge at every turn.

In coordination with the City of McKinney's Arts in Bloom event, Laura Moore Fine Art Studios is presenting a full day and night of fine art. The day will begin with a large outdoor gallery on South Tennessee featuring over a dozen artists showcasing various mediums with pottery wheel demonstrations and fine art exhibits.

Arts in Bloom will run citywide on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. As nighttime approaches plan to meet Arshad for opening night of "The Vortex Between Light and Dark" from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Through May 4.

Orisons Fine Art & Framing Gallery – is pleased to exhibit the photography of Mark Renz. Renz's conceptual artwork explores memories tied to loss and grieving. Layered and complex, they call for an engaged response. Other works focus on a sense of place through architecture and landscape. A native New Yorker, Renz studied architecture in Italy and Turkey prior to completing an MA in photography at Savannah College of Art and Design. Renz currently resides in Frisco. Join us for a very special reception, serving wine, beverages and Nothing Bundt Cakes.

Also that evening, the gallery space upstairs will be filled with artwork by the McKinney Artist Critique Group. Susan Bishop, Annie Royer, L.C. Tobey, Tommy Tobey, Teresa Kreiger, Jeni Tomlinson and Bob Bruu will be exhibiting new works inspired by this growing workshop led by Joe Sambataro.

Main Street Magic & Fun Company – will feature amazing magician Doc Grimes and Friends ... as they will be sharing a little magic and spirit, well, we hope so anyway. Tickets to both shows are $10 each and include a complimentary glass of wine for adults. Seating is limited: call 214-274-7802 to reserve your seats.

Patina Green Home & Market – will be featuring Market Dinners each second Saturday on their front patio. The dinners are by reservation only, which are made on the first day of the previous month.
