ART Events featured this Saturday:

DesignTen1 Interiors – featuring a fun, exciting, simple and affordable women's clothing line. Stop by for bites and cocktails to see the collection and enter in the drawing for half price items!

Garret Art Gallery – will be featuring local artist, Katie Rifkin, March 9 through April 10. Katie Rifkin combines found papers and texts with watercolor and acrylic mediums to create multilayer collages. Katie received her BFA in Art Education from the University of North Texas in Denton in 2011.

She currently resides in Plano and is an art teacher at Richardson High School. Katie is active in professional groups such as National Art Education Association (NAEA) and Texas Art Education Association (TAEA). She has presented at a national conference about her teaching practices.

Imaging on the Square – is featuring various local artists, showcasing their many different mixes and mediums throughout the evening.

Laura Moore Fine Art Studios – debuts the latest minimalist abstract works by Jeffrey Cortland Jones in the exhibition "After, Closer." The exhibition features subtly nuanced abstracts created with enamel on acrylic panels. Jones cites music and bands, specifically Joy Division and its later incarnation, New Order, as an influence on this series. He shares that "There is something about the sparseness, complexity, darkness and lightness about the two bands that I have loved since first hearing them as an extremely young kid back in the early 80's." "After, Closer" references what came after the album "Closer" – Joy Division's second and final studio album. The titles of the paintings all reference titles of New Order tracks.

Jones is an Associate Professor at the University of Dayton where he is the head of the Painting program. He is represented by Kathryn Markel Fine Arts, New York and Phyllis Weston Gallery, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Meet Jones during opening night for the exhibition "After, Closer" on Saturday, March 9.

Orisons Fine Art & Framing Gallery – is pleased to welcome to the gallery two Dallas area emerging artists, Melissa Ellis and Julia Pappas. Their energetic images lure us to the surface of the canvas and remind us of the material presence of paint. Ellis will be showing a collection of her large scale, heavily textured abstracts, which resemble pixelated details of a Seurat painting. Pappas' similarly expressive brush strokes allow "the paint to be paint" while in the service of figural compositions. Join us March 9th, and meet these accomplished young women.

Main Street Magic & Fun Company – will feature our house magician Doc Grimes as well as a visiting magician – Sean Christopher from Durant, OK. Sean's affable nature and quirky style will keep you laughing while he stealthily sneaks into your mind with his astonishing feats of mentalism! Show times are 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Both shows are family friendly and tickets are just $10 each. Call 214-274-7802 to reserve yours.

Patina Green Home & Market – will be featuring Market Dinners each second Saturday on our front patio. The 5 course dinners are by reservation only, the dinners go on sale the first day of the previous month, and the store will be CLOSED to accommodate the intimate dining. For more information please call 972-548-9141.
