Don’t look now, but Cadillac Pizza Pub in McKinney has officially staked its claim among DFW’s best pizzerias, and is on the cusp of being crowned the “Best Pizza in DFW.”

The popular McKinney restaurant first cruised past the initial Round of 25, then won its “Elite 8” head-to-head matchup to earn a berth in the “Final 4” of the area-wide competition. The online voting competition sponsored by The Dallas Morning News began with the 25 best local pizza options as identified by the newspaper’s staff. More than 30,000 votes were cast in the first two rounds as readers lobbied for their favorite pizza.

Cadillac Pizza Pub finished second overall in the initial round of voting, slightly behind the top-seeded Campisi’s, a local institution with eight locations across the Metroplex. It then topped Fireside Pies, which has five restaurants across DFW, in its second-round matchup.

“We feel like we’ve been underdogs every step of the way in this competition, but our loyal customers keep pushing us over the top,” said Tony Smith, partner of {33} Restaurant Group and co-owner of Cadillac Pizza Pub. “We have our work cut out for us again as we face off with another multi-location restaurant in the Final 4, so I hope our customers don’t mind keeping the pedal to the metal.”

Cadillac Pizza Pub is no stranger to such contests, having been voted the Best Bar/Pub/Nightlife in the 2012 “Best of McKinney” competition by readers of McKinney Magazine. The publication recognized local residents’ favorite businesses, from small, family-owned enterprises to larger companies spanning a wide range of product and service categories. More than 7,000 votes were cast in that competition.

In a unique twist from most restaurants, “The Caddy” is committed to sourcing local ingredients for its menu. For example, the pub uses a local “Texas Sausage” made exclusively for its applewood-fired pizzas by Hamm’s Meat Market, as well as smoked brisket, applewood-smoked bacon and many other products provided by local vendors.

Located one block off the square in the revitalized historic area of Downtown McKinney, Cadillac Pizza Pub is the place to go for a laid-back happy hour or a delicious pizza dinner accompanied by a cool, live music vibe. Up-and-coming musicians of every genre are drawn to the restaurant by its unique feel, which evokes the cool blues of Memphis, the hipster buzz of Austin and the festive spirit of New Orleans.
