Volunteer McKinney is one of thirteen National Award winners chosen to receive a $10,000 grant from the Arby’s Foundation as part of the Make A Difference Day awards program.
TEGNA Inc., together with its Make A Difference Day partners Arby’s Foundation and Points of Light, announced today the National and All Star award winners from across the country who are being honored for fostering local volunteerism and having a positive impact in their communities.
This year’s winning projects were selected from nearly 800 projects that took place on Make A Difference Day, Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017. Volunteer McKinney is the only recipient from the state of Texas to be recognized with this prestigious award.
“This is a testimonial to the numerous agencies, sponsors, and volunteers who are passionate about making a difference in their community,” said Dana Riley, Executive Director of Volunteer McKinney. “To be recognized on a national level is an honor that Volunteer McKinney takes seriously. We are already looking forward to our 2018 Make A Difference Day.”
Make A Difference Day, which is held every October, is one of the largest annual single-days of service nationwide. Since 1992, volunteers and communities have come together on Make A Difference Day with a single purpose: to improve the lives of others. In 2017, seven hundred volunteers showed up for 23 projects throughout McKinney, benefiting nearly 20 local nonprofit service organizations.
