Fall is officially here and that means it’s time for the 16th Annual Make a Difference Day in McKinney. To commemorate this year, we are hosting 17 community projects and will need over 700 volunteers. Project details are at volunteermckinney.galaxydigital.com. Make a Difference Day is Saturday, Oct. 24 and some of the projects have already filled up. To sign up, volunteers can log on and register for the project that appeals most.

Event sponsors this year are the City of McKinney, Baylor of McKinney, McKinney Community Development Corp., First United Bank, Independent Bank and The Body Shop. Our In-kind sponsors are Market Street, TomK Photography, The Print Lab and Professional Concepts, Inc.

Local restaurants are hosting our very popular After-Parties where volunteers who participated in a project will receive amazing discounts and celebrate with other volunteers! The host restaurants are Brothers Pizza (Eldorado), Raising Canes (University at 75), Italian Garden (Custer), Nom Nom’s Mexican Grill and Chill (Virginia) and The One and Only Burgers and Fries (U.S. Hwy. 5 and University)

“Make a Difference Day has become a tradition for McKinney citizens. We are so proud to be able to organize this event every year and consider it our honor to support local nonprofits by introducing them to new volunteers,” said Dana Riley, Volunteer McKinney Executive Director. “We could not do it without our terrific sponsors who understand that volunteerism is a vital part of this community.”
