McKINNEY, TX - There’s something about McKinney and the holidays that seem to go together. Whether it’s the Home for the Holidays festival that kicks off the holiday season right after Thanksgiving (a festival that’s been going on for over 39 years!), the city's holiday décor, or just a general feeling of being a part of something bigger than yourself, the holiday season in McKinney is special.
Case in point? This weekend’s magical Rotary Christmas Parade of Lights. The annual event kicks off Saturday in Historic Downtown McKinney. The parade features floats celebrating ”A Hometown Christmas,” this year’s theme. And even though he’s busy, Santa will also make an appearance.
Parking in Historic Downtown McKinney will be limited, so plan accordingly. According to the Rotary Club of McKinney, the group responsible for producing the event, trolley service will be available from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and those planning on making the trip downtown to watch The Parade of Lights are encouraged to use the trolley to their advantage.
