McKinney, TX -- Despite the twists and turns of last year, the McKinney Young Professionals (MYP) didn’t only meet their fundraising goal - they BEAT it!

Every year, MYP raises money for their chosen charity. 2020 marked the second year that they would be fundraising for Embrace Texas – a local organization that assists and supports foster, adoptive, and kinship families, as well as teens who “age-out” of the foster care system.

MYP’s main fundraising event each year is an event called “Cheers to Charity.” However, since they weren’t able to host any in-person events last year, MYP had to think outside of the box. That challenge led to “Race for Embrace” and the “Celebrity Beer Stein Challenge.”

“Race for Embrace” is a community wide, virtual 5K event. When and where the participant chooses to run this race is completely up to them. Participants receive t-shirts, medals, and are able to participate in our Facebook Live warmup. The “Celebrity Beer Stein Challenge” was an online auction, where MYP rounded up a group of McKinney celebrities who each designed a custom beer stein, with the help of local artists.

Thanks to our participants, bidders, and amazing sponsors – MYP was able to raise more money than ever before. Their fundraising goal for 2020 was $10k, but this group of go-getters ended up raising $12,475.79 for Embrace!

If you want to help MYP reach this year’s fundraising goal of $15k, please sign up to participate in this year’s “Race for Embrace”, benefitting Embrace! The race will be on Saturday, June 12th, 2021. You can sign up by visiting: Thank you to Love Life Foundation, Waste Connections, and MCDC for helping sponsor this year’s “Race for Embrace.”
