On Friday, August 4, the McKinney Young Professionals (MYP) will wrap up their annual Christmas in July fundraiser/toy drive for CASA of Collin County. And this year they pulled out all the stops!
Beginning with their kick-off event at Tupps Brewery in June, MYP invited the entire community to take part and help in this important cause. And the community came through to help the kids at CASA! Everyone enjoyed an awesome venue and Tupps beverages, complimentary food from Cadillac Pizza Pub, music by the Whiskey Routes, some audience participatory comedy from The Comedy Arena, a wine pull sponsored by Nashional Financial/Whitney Nash and many silent auction items donated by area businesses.
Bottom line: Because of the huge community support, MYP raised nearly twice as much money at their 2017 kick-off than they did throughout their entire drive in 2016. So what did they do? They raised their goal from $7500 to $10,000!
At the time of this article they have brought in over $9240 – SO CLOSE – but you still have two days to help them reach their goal. And it is so easy! Just click HERE, make sure you indicate you are making the donation on behalf of the Christmas in July 2017 fundraiser and the funds will go directly to CASA.
WHY should you donate to CASA? All you have to do is take a look at their website and it is pretty much a no-brainer. But in case you don’t have the time to do that, we’ll share a few things with you:
- Every eight minutes in Texas 17,350 children become victims of abuse or neglect.
- In Collin County alone, 4383 cases of child abuse were reported to CPS.
- Of those cases, 2713 were confirmed as child abuse victims.
- 262 CASA Volunteer Advocates served 510 children in 2016, finding 214 children safe, permanent, loving homes.
- And that has saved taxpayers $4,000,000 through 50,000 hours of donated service.
“Every summer, the McKinney Young Professionals help CASA fill a critical need by restocking the shelves of our Children’s Toy Room. During the busy summer months, our supply runs low but we know that through this fundraiser/toy drive, no child will go without something for their birthday. This year more than ever the need is great, as we have seen a 30% increase in the number of children we are serving. We are so grateful to the members of MYP and I sincerely believe that if the future of McKinney is in the hands of these young professionals, we are in great shape!” stated Lori Geer, Development Director for CASA of Collin County.
The McKinney Young Professionals would like to thank everyone who made this fundraiser/toy drive a success and want to recognize the following for going above and beyond: Tupps Brewery, Cadillac Pizza, Whiskey Routes, The Comedy Arena, Nashional Financial/Whitney Nash, Encore Wire Corporation, Emerson, American National Bank of Texas, First United Bank and McAlister’s Deli.
And if you have yet to DONATE – do it today!
