FOOD INSECURITY: the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient amount of affordable nutritious food.

Food Insecurity is experienced by 1 out of 6 Americans.
That includes4.8 million Texans.
And it affects 1 in every 4 children in North Texas.
In 2015, the Community Food Pantry of McKinney provided food for 131,160 meals, which includes feeding 5622 children.

As we enter this season of giving, McKinney residents have an opportunity to help make the holidays better for families fighting food insecurity right here in our own community. The Leadership McKinney (LM) Alumni Network along with sponsor UTTER Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC will again hold their annual food drive to fill the shelves at our pantry.

To meet the needs, LM Alumni will be collecting 16 or 18 ounce jars of peanut butter to fill the shelves. The community can drop off peanut butter through December 8 at the McKinney Chamber of Commerce, located at 400 W. Virginia Street. The goal for the peanut butter drive: 1000 jars.

The Community Food Pantry of McKinney was formed 39 years ago and is an all-volunteer organization that provides food to families in crisis in the McKinney area.

Those in crisis are people who have lost their jobs.
Those in crisis are those who have lost income due to illness, medical bills, or maybe a death in the family.
Those in crisis are people who have had an addition to their family and cannot make ends meet.
Those in crisis are the hungry in our community for whatever reason.
Help the Leadership McKinney Alumni Network and sponsor UTTER Wealth Management Group help our families in crisis, one jar of peanut butter at a time. Give today for our community. Give FOOD FOR FRIENDS!
