Event breaks $100,000 fundraising mark
The Eighth Annual Wounded Heroes Benefit Concert broke the $100,000 mark at its annual September event, raising $20,000 to benefit Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for veterans, service members and military families.
Located at Clancys Saloon and Stage on the Bar-Double Horseshoe Ranch, the two-day concert is hosted by Frank and Carron Prigmore and family and coincides with Patriot Day each year.
“These bands come from everywhere and perform and each year, we get a crowd out there to support this event,” said Frank Prigmore, event founder and organizer. "I never would have dreamt that this idea would go from putting a few pallets down for some guys to sing, to raising over $100,000. It’s amazing.
“There are a lot of different people that come out there, from all walks of life, veterans, doctors, lawyers, the guy that drives the beer truck and they all come together for one purpose, to support our veterans and we’re very appreciative. I just wanted to put a concert on where veterans could come out and be themselves and rejoin life.”
While the concert is free and open to the public, the annual outdoor concert series has raised $116,000 for Hope For The Warriors’ programs in eight years.
All proceeds from the concert assist veterans, service members and military families with a variety of programming including clinical health and wellness, sports and recreation and transition services.
“Hope For The Warriors is able to serve the number of veterans, service members and military families that we do, thanks to the support of annual events like the Wounded Heroes Benefit Concert,” said Robin Kelleher, co-founder and president of the nonprofit organization. “Thanks to Frank and the entire Prigmore family we’re able to help create positive change and provide hope to those military families that need it most here in Texas and across the county.”
The Ninth Annual Wounded Heroes Benefit Concert is scheduled for September 11 and 12, 2020.
