Andrea Sieling to run Boston Marathon to raise funds and awareness
Allen, TX — November 8, 2019 — Today, Cottonwood Creek Church announced that they will be sponsoring Andrea Sieling in her fundraising efforts for the 2020 Team Hoyt Boston Marathon Team. Sieling is committed to raising $7500 to benefit Team Hoyt Boston and Cottonwood Creek Church will donate 10% of this goal.
Team Hoyt was founded by the Father/Son Team Dick and Rick Hoyt. Hoyt has pushed his son Rick in over 32 marathons and several Ironman competitions over the years. Rick was born with Cerebral Palsy and told his father after their first race that his disability disappears when he races.
As a lifelong runner, Boston has always been a dream for Sieling. “I cannot think of a bigger honor than not only running Boston, but running for the Team Hoyt Organization,” she said.
“When you run Boston for a Charity, you commit to raising funds for that charity in order to secure your bib. My commitment to Team Hoyt is to raise $7,500, 100% of which will go directly to Team Hoyt. They, in turn, use it to support Easter Seals and Special Needs Camps.”
Sieling and her family have attended Cottonwood Creek Church for more than five years and serve in many capacities. Their daughter Emerson, who after a three-month NICU stay, 25+ surgeries to date, 17 different diagnoses and 18 different specialists that keep her going, lights up each Sunday when she and her buddy attend church.
When people ask Sieling “why” she is doing this, her response is simple:
“Because I can, as long as I still have the ability to run, I will run for those like my Emerson and others like Emerson who can’t. Team Hoyt’s Mission is to spread awareness of INCLUSION! My goal as Emerson’s mom is to always advocate for INCLUSION.”
“I’m convinced that Emerson is God’s agent to help us see joy through trials that many of us would think are overwhelming,” said David Marsh, children’s pastor at Cottonwood Creek Church. “With her incredible family’s support, she perseveres through continual health challenges and setbacks. Yet, you would be hard-pressed to find her without her infectious smile and mischievous sense of humor.”
Sieling has big goals to reach before the marathon which will be held on April 20, 2020, not only in training but also in fundraising. If you would like to contribute to her fundraising efforts you can do so at the following link:
“There’s nothing easy about this girl’s life. But she’s not about to miss out on the joy of God and sharing it with others,” said Marsh. “Team Hoyt’s love and support over the years for Emerson and her family is inspirational. I’m thrilled that Andrea and Cottonwood Creek have this opportunity to let God’s light shine in such a unique way at the Boston Marathon and beyond.”
