McKINNEY – Collin County is making more than $1 million available to help current non-profit organizations and municipalities build or upgrade housing or sheltering programs throughout the county.

The Housing Project Finance Assistance Program allows qualified organizations to apply for a share of $1,066,000 in competitive grants to build or upgrade additional rooms or handicapped facilities, for example. The Collin County Planning Board, on behalf of the Collin County Housing Finance Corporation, administers the grants.

Complete program highlights, guidelines and instructions, including the program application, are available on the county’s website at, or by contacting the Collin County Engineering Department, 4690 Community Avenue, Suite 200, McKinney, TX 75071.

The deadline for submitting applications is close of business on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013. The Planning Board will then review applications and submit funding recommendations for approval to the Collin County Commissioners Court in October.

For more information and general questions about this funding program, please call the Engineering Department staff at 972-548-3727.
