ALLEN, TX — Local job seekers and employers can tap into a new resource designed to connect the unemployed with tools, technology, hope for a brighter future...and jobs. Cottonwood Creek Job Connection is a free service for employers and job seekers alike.
Cottonwood Creek Church senior pastor, John Mark Caton stated, “As soon as Covid-19 hit, it was our desire to help those who were being furloughed or laid off get back into the workforce as quickly as possible.”
“As pastor of Cottonwood Creek Church for the past 25 years, I’ve walked with people through the dotcom bubble implosion of the early 2000s as well as the 2008 financial crisis,” explained Caton. “I noticed during both of those times that job loss was highly correlated to other problems such as addiction, depression, domestic problems and even suicide.”
Located at CottonwoodCreek.org/jobs, the site offers new job listings within a driving radius of 50 miles. Registered users can look for jobs closer to home by decreasing the distance of the search.
“I’m so thankful that in the middle of this tough season, I was able to count on Cottonwood Creek Job Connection,” said job seeker, K. Vallene. “I’ve been a stay-at-home-mom for many years, and I wasn’t sure how long my job search would take. I signed up and found the resources I needed to guide me in my job search. That same day I submitted my resume to several listings - I was called, interviewed and hired in less than a week!”
More than just a job board, Cottonwood Creek Job Connection helps job seekers prepare for a successful job search using an interest-profiler, a skill-matcher, and a resume builder designed to move their resume to the top of the pile.
One feature that sets the Job Connection apart from regular job-search sites is the optional prayer network. It offers personal support for a journey that can have emotional and spiritual peaks and valleys. The secure site ensures spammers and unsavory job postings are blocked.
Employers can use the resume search engine and application tracking to find talented, qualified candidates quickly.
Cottonwood Creek Church in Allen, TX developed the site during the COVID-19 shutdown to meet the practical needs of people in the community who were struck by the pandemic’s economic impact. Registered users of the site access free resources to navigate every stage of their job search, at any age -- teen through retirement.
