The numbers are in from this year’s “Make A Difference Day” and McKinney area nonprofits received help from over 500 volunteers who contributed over $40,000 worth of time.

Project grants were awarded to nine nonprofits to assist them with supplies for their projects.  There were activities to fit all kinds of volunteer interests and we look forward to next year’s event having an even bigger impact on McKinney.

Filmed and edited by volunteers, this year's event was documented on video. Click here to enjoy a recap of the accomplishments.

Mark your calendars for Make A Difference Day 2013 on October 26th.

Dana Riley, Executive Director said “This year’s Make A Difference Day” was truly a living example of the community spirit that is alive and well in McKinney. We are so grateful to all the volunteers that came out to support local nonprofits.  They really did make a difference that will be felt by the agencies for years to come.”

Community Lifeline was among those receiving an honor which will make a positive impact on their organization.

"We were so honored to be chosen for Make a Difference Day and in particular, by Leadership McKinney for an Extreme Agency Makeover. ... Our staff will start the new year, in new offices, with beautiful offices and a welcoming lobby for our clients, complete with a custom painted Donor Tree and a view of our Zen Garden."

Community Lifeline said the class solicited new and gently used office furniture, supplies, and got equipment and landscaping donated to completely transform their new location.

"Three hundred people a month come through our doors, and the MADD project will certainly make a BIG difference to them," they said.
