McKINNEY (Jan, 6, 2016) — Grab your Aqua Net and turn the volume up to 11! The McKinney Boyd Broadway Broncos are presenting the National Premiere of Rock of Ages 101: High School Edition. With a book by Chris D’Arienzo and Arrangements and Orchestrations by Ethan Popp, this rocking musical features classic songs from your favorite 80s hair bands and pop ballads.
Rock of Ages 101: High School Edition follows the love story between aspiring rocker Drew and would-be actress Sherrie and features the music of Styx, Journey and Bon Jovi! Rock of Ages premiered on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theater on April 7, 2009 where it garnered five Tony nominations before moving to the Helen Hayes Theatre. The show is also an international sensation, with smash productions in Tokyo, Sydney, London and Las Vegas. A major motion picture starring Tom Cruise was released in 2012.
Performances are Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 14-16 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 16 at 2 p.m. in the McKinney Boyd High School Auditorium. Tickets are $12 for students and $15 for adults and can be purchased online at broadwaybroncos.com or at the door.
