Cabaret, with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and book by Joe Masteroff, is a thought-provoking musical transporting audiences to the Kit Kat Klub in 1931 Berlin, where singer Sally Bowles meets American writer Cliff Bradshaw. But, outside the cabaret the Nazis are rising to power in Berlin, as the rest of the world watches.

Winner of the Tony and eight Oscar Awards, Joe Masteroff's book for Cabaret was based on John van Druten's play I Am a Camera, itself inspired by Christopher Isherwood's Berlin stories.

The musical has a long history within the fabric of American musical theatre. After its first run on Broadway in 1966, many versions of Cabaret have been performed across the globe, including a 1972 film version starring Liza Manelli.

Collin Theatre Center is presenting the provocative and edgy musical Cabaret, Feb. 28- March 10. For ticket information, visit the Collin Theatre Center website at collintheatrecenter.com.
