Collin College’s Auteur Film Series continues on Feb. 7 with the screening of the movie The Great Debaters.
The free screening, presented in conjunction with African American History Month, is at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Angelika Film Center in Plano. Open to the public, the film, directed by Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington, is rated PG.
In 1935, the first team of debaters from Wiley College, a historically black college in Texas, achieves tremendous success, culminating with a debate at Harvard. The Great Debaters is based on a true story.
