For the third year in a row, Collin College’s Respiratory Care Program has been recognized with the Distinguished Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credentialing Success Award from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).

Collin College is one of just six programs from the state of Texas to receive this honor. Only 62 of the nation’s 438 programs achieved the distinction.

CoARC presents the award to programs that document RRT credentialing success of 90 percent or above and meet or exceed established CoARC thresholds for Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentialing success, attrition and positive job placement. The programs must also have three or more years of outcomes data and hold accreditation without a progress report.

“The team of faculty, staff and students, under the leadership of Director Araceli Solis, are to be congratulated for this outstanding achievement and for their commitment to standards of excellence,” said Dr. Sherry Schumann, vice president and provost at the Central Park Campus. “To continue to receive this honor solidifies the Collin College Respiratory Care program as a leader in quality education for the respiratory care field.”

Last year, Collin College respiratory students had a 100% credentialing success rate for both the Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) exam and the RRT exam. They also had a 94 percent job placement rate.

“To receive this award three years in a row speaks volumes on what a great team we have,” Respiratory Care Program Director Araceli Solis said. “Our outstanding instructors provide quality education to students who go above and beyond to achieve success."
