The League of Women Voters of Collin County cordially invites the public to hear Bruce Sherbet, Collin County Elections Administrator, discuss the voting systems in Collin County.  He will also address any changes to voter ID requirements pursuant to recent court decisions.  This free event will be Saturday, September 10, 2016, 10:00 a.m. to noon, at the Ismaili Jamatkhana, 6704 Alma Drive, Plano, TX 75023.

Mr. Sherbet began duties as the county’s Elections Administrator in December 2015, replacing Sharon Rowe, who retired after 16 years in the position.  He brings decades of experience to the appointed position, having served as an elections administrator in Dallas County for 24 years and Ellis County for two years.

This public meeting is part of LWV Collin County’s study to examine how voting systems work, the integrity of the system, and safeguards against tampering or altering vote-counting mechanisms.  Voting systems include electronic voting, military and other absentee ballots, provisional ballots, and online voting.

All attendees are invited to stay for LWV-CC’s Fall Membership Kickoff immediately following Mr. Sherbet’s address to learn what the League has planned for elections, studies and action programs for 2016-2017.  A reception with light refreshments will be held at 10:00, with the meeting starting at 10:30.
