The town of Prosper is now a member of the McKinney Urban Transit District, following an MUTD meeting April 10.

The MUTD board is made up of McKinney City Council members and representatives from Celina, Lowery Crossing, Princeton, Melissa and now Prosper. The MUTD makes transit decisions and handles transit funding for the participating cities.

Prosper is now able to use MUTD services such as the Collin County Transit, which provides on-demand transportation for elderly, disabled and low-income residents in its service area.

Since MUTD’s last meeting in December, the Collin County Transit has seen a 32% increase in the number of trips taken, Denton County Transportation Authority representative Michelle Bloomer said during the meeting.
