As the 2013 election season approaches, McKinney residents learn of new candidates running for the open-at large seat, vacated by David Brooks.

Randy Pogue posted on Facebook: “After a lot of consideration, I have decided to throw my hat in the ring for City Council at Large in the City of McKinney. McKinney is a great place to live and work. I have been blessed by being here, and I fully subscribe to the sentiment that we should Learn, Earn and Return. In serving on the Council I hope to continue being a contributing member of our community. I thank you in advance for your support and your vote.”

Earlier this week, this was posted on Martin Sanchez’s Facebook page: “I am running for City Council – At Large for the City of McKinney. This community has given me and my family so much that I feel the calling to give back.”

The deadline to file intent to run for office is March 1 at 5 p.m. Potential candidates can file in person or through the mail.

The election will be held May 11. For more information on elections, visit the City of McKinney or Collin County websites.
