An extra week to get trusted medical care without leaving your home
McKINNEY, TX (Aug. 12, 2020) – People who live or work in McKinney have an extra week to get free routine medical services via telemedicine. The McKinney Fire Department (MFD) and Integrative Emergency Services are extending the free trial period of the new telemedicine program. Through the portal, users can connect 24/7 with a board-certified emergency medicine physician. Visits are free through Tuesday, Aug. 18. After that, there may be a charge depending on insurance.
*Note: you should still call 9-1-1 for a medical emergency.
What conditions can be treated?
Urgent medical issues:
- Stomach aches
- Thyroid disorders
- Prescriptions and refills
- Skin care
- Birth control
“We are glad to be able to extend this free trial period. The concern is that people may be shying away from needed medical care due to fears about COVID-19. We hope the McKinney Fire Department’s telemedicine program will be a way for people to safely seek that help without having to go to a medical facility,” said Chief Danny Kistner, McKinney Fire Department.
