The McKinney Fire Department will begin annual on-site inspections of local businesses to prevent fires and protect lives and property on Jan. 20. If your business is considered light-hazard, low-risk and less than 1,500 square feet, you qualify to complete an online fire and life safety self-evaluation in place of the on-site inspection. Qualifying businesses should have received notification from the Fire Marshals’ Office. If feel you meet these qualifications but have not received notification, contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at contact-fire@mckinneytexas.org or at 972-547-2850 for verification.
 
This self-evaluation benefits your company by decreasing interruption of an on-site inspection and provides vital insight into the most common fire risks. The free self-evaluation form can be accessed online atwww.mckinneytexas.org/selfevaluation using passcode 57928, and should be completed by Jan. 20, 2017. The user-friendly form can be completed with a computer or smart device.
