The McKinney Police Department offers a Citizens Police Academy for residents to learn more about police work. The Support Services Division of the McKinney PD offers the course every spring for residents to learn more about their police department, police work and things they can do for their own safety.

Participants of the academy are introduced to traffic laws, DWI stops, crime scene investigations, SWAT, K9 and more. Graduates of this academy are eligible for further training in two volunteer groups: Citizens on Patrol (COP) and McKinney Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (MCPAAA).

Classes start Thursday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. and will take place at the McKinney Public Safety Building. Classes will be held for 14 weeks. Application deadline is Jan. 25. Click here for more information, or call 972-547-2795.
