Reading of Mayor's Proclamation part of celebration, on the steps of Collin County Museum
The month of September marks the 231st anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention.
The John Abston Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will observe Constitution Week on Wednesday, September 19, at Noon at the Collin County Museum, 300 E. Virginia Street, downtown McKinney.
This observation will include a reading of the Preamble to the Constitution, and a reading of the Mayor of McKinney George Fuller's Proclamation, as well as the traditional ringing of bells.
The purpose of this annual celebration is to encourage the study of events that led to the framing of the Constitution in 1787, inform people that the Constitution is the basis of America's great heritage, and emphasize US citizens responsibility to protect, defend, and preserve the Constitution.
The public is invited to attend.
