The McKinney Sunrise Rotary Club and local Boy Scout Troops were out in full force, placing nearly 1500 American Flags throughout McKinney.
The Flag Lease Program is the primary fund raiser of the Rotary Club of McKinney Sunrise. They deliver and install United States flags to subscribers on designated "flag" holidays throughout the year and take them down after the holiday.
This is the last of 5 Holidays for 2012. Orders for next year's flags are currently being taken. The cost is$45 per year and can be placed online at MckinneySunriseRotary.org . All proceeds stay in the McKinney area.
Service areas include from Hwy 380 south to Hwy 121 and between Hwy 75 and Custer Road.
A PVC plastic sleeve with a cap is placed in the ground near the front curb. No brackets or fixtures are attached to the homes. On each of the five holidays, a 3’ x 5’ U. S. flag, mounted on a 10-foot metal pole is placed in the sleeve. The flags are the property of Rotary Club of McKinney Sunrise.
The Rotarians, Boy Scouts, and youth partners will deliver, set, and pick up flags for the following "flag" holidays:
- Memorial Day
- Flag Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Veterans Day
