Collin County officials authorized a 90-day outdoor burn ban and limited restrictions on some fireworks for the unincorporated areas of Collin County, effective Thursday (Dec. 13).

The ban stays in effect through March 13, 2013, unless the restrictions are lifted based on a determination made by the Texas Forest Service that drought conditions no longer exist in this area, or by vote of the Commissioners Court.

The Court also issued a ban on certain fireworks, prohibiting the sale or detonation of fireworks such as “skyrockets with sticks” and “missiles with fins” in unincorporated areas of the county. The fireworks restrictions do not include all other permissible fireworks outside of those descriptions.

Details of the outdoor burn ban and fireworks restrictions can be viewed on the Fire Marshal’s page of the county website, collincountytx.gov.
