The City of McKinney's website, www.mckinneytexas.org, recently underwent a transformation to make it more user-friendly and easier to navigate with a more modern design.

Visits to the website have consistently increased during the past five years, marking it as one of the most accessed city government communications channels used by McKinney residents, visitors and businesses.

Beyond a more modern design, the site has added features like event calendars, a more transparent and easily navigable menu, and page features that allow users to easily print, email and share individual pages, with additional features set to be implemented in the future.

“The intent of the redesign is to make the site more functional and user-friendly for the public,” CoCo Good, Director of Communications and Marketing, said in a news release. “The new site positions the city for growth. And as we continue to grow and receive national attention, like the recent ranking by Money Magazine as the No. 2 Best Place to Live In America, we are confident this site successfully tells the McKinney story to everyone who visits it.”

The website provides access to a variety of city departments, services, officials and data along with improved contact information, forms and interactive services. The new agreement with the vendor, Civic Plus, saves the city money – more than $150,000 over the first five years.

Collin County Regional Airport also has a new website, www.flytki.com. The new URL and site reflects the regional focus of the general aviation business airport, which is located in McKinney.

The city’s website is the foundation of several online communications tools used by the City of McKinney. A presence on Facebook and Twitter reaches more than 13,000, and an award-winning weekly e-newsletter reaches nearly 30,000.

The city’s TV station, McKinney Vision, has a YouTube channel for posting original programming as well.
