Once again, the citizens of McKinney are rolling up their sleeves to help their neighbors.

Nineteen projects have been posted on our website (click here to view)  -  local volunteers, groups and others are invited to log on and sign up today!

Make A Difference Day is October 27th, but McKinney citizens are so giving, we are doing some projects on October 20th, too!  Volunteers can log on and register for the project that appeals most.

Event sponsors this year are the City of McKinney and the McKinney Community Development Corporation.  Our In-kind sponsors to date are: Market Street, Baylor McKinney, Brothers Pizza and The Payton Group.

Volunteer McKinney has been committed to volunteerism in the McKinney area since 1998.  Recently, we have re-focused our commitment by launching a new and improved website along with new programs that strengthen the local nonprofits and allow volunteers to more easily connect with them.  Go to our website today at http://www.volunteermckinney.org/ to learn more about volunteering and McKinney area nonprofits.

“Make A Difference Day” is a national event sponsored by the Points of Light Foundation, the Hands On Network and USA Weekend.  McKinney has participated for the past 12 years.  Over the years, this event has offered volunteers a chance to “Make A Difference” by serving for just one day.  Many of them return to local nonprofits and commit to regular service, giving this community more “Volunteer Power” to change the lives of those in need.  It is estimated that volunteers will give over $20,000 in hours to McKinney nonprofits during their time of service for Make A Difference Day 2012.

“Our 18 projects are just a sampling of the good work that is done in this community by local nonprofits. Our goal is that every person who is willing to volunteer will find the right fit through our website or by picking up the phone and calling us.” -Dana Riley, Volunteer McKinney, Executive Director
