The southbound U.S. 75 frontage road traffic switch that was to begin late Monday night/early Tuesday morning has been rescheduled due to last night's rainy weather.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) contractor on the U.S. 75 expansion project at Eldorado Parkway in McKinney has now rescheduled this traffic switch and the frontage road closure to late Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning.
A northbound U.S. 75 frontage road traffic switch will now occur starting early Thursday morning.
Details are as follows:
WEDNESDAY, MAY 16
Traffic will move into temporary lanes beginning at 12 a.m. Wednesday, May 16 on the U.S. 75 southbound frontage road to make room for construction. This switch will result in the permanent closure of the northwest “jug handle” exit ramp from the U.S. 75 frontage road to Eldorado Parkway.
As part of this traffic switch, the southwest jug handle exit ramp from the U.S. 75 frontage road to Eldorado Parkway will also be closed from 12 a.m. Wednesday, May 16 through 9 a.m. May 20, 2012.
This will allow the contractor to build a temporary asphalt connection from the new southbound frontage road alignment to the southwest jug handle.
Detour signs have been posted to direct traffic to Eldorado Parkway and U.S. 75 main lanes during this phase of construction. Traffic on the southbound U.S. 75 frontage road will be detoured to Craig Drive to Eldorado Parkway and U.S. 75.
THURSDAY, MAY 17
Norbound U.S. 75 frontage road traffic will move into temporary lanes at Eldorado Parkway beginning at 12 a.m. Thursday, May 17.
This switch will result in the closure of the northeast “jug handle” exit ramp from the U.S. 75 northbound frontage road to Eldorado Parkway.
This ramp and the north connection of Medical Center Drive to the U.S. 75 northbound frontage road will be closed for approximately five months.
Detour signs have been posted.
Northbound traffic with be detoured to Marketplace and turn left on Medical Center to access Eldorado Parkway. Traffic headed to U.S. 75 northbound from westbound Eldorado Parkway will turn left at Medical Center, right on Market Place Drive to the northbound frontage road.
U.S. 75 Project Details
The $106 million project will add two lanes in each direction on the U.S. 75 main lanes and one in each direction on the frontage roads, giving the highway a total of eight main lanes and six frontage road lanes between Spur 399 (SH 121) and U.S. 380. This is one of five projects either under way, nearing completion or just starting on the Central Expressway corridor through McKinney from SH 121 to Melissa Road. This project is expected to be substantially complete in the summer of 2015.
TxDOT would like to thank area drivers for their patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this vital project as soon, and as safely, as possible.
