The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is scheduled to begin improvements this summer on State Highway (SH) 289 from Farm-to-Market 1461 to Farm-to-Market 455 in Celina.
The project will improve traffic flow by expanding the two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided urban highway. This is one of five projects on SH 289 (Preston Road) under way from U.S. 380 to Grayson County Road.
The first phase of construction will begin with the re-building of the southbound lanes, including storm sewer, excavation and paving.
Traffic will then be moved to the new southbound lanes and the northbound lanes will be built. The project is expected to be complete in the spring of 2014.
Mario Sinacola & Sons Excavating, Inc. is the contractor on this $18.2 million project.
TxDOT would like to thank area drivers for their patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this vital project as soon, and as safely, as possible.
