McKINNEY, Texas – The McKinney Chamber of Commerce took second place for a social media campaign at the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executive’s Annual Communications Contest.

The Chamber was recognized for the work during Texas Chamber of Commerce Week where they launched a social media campaign - #luvmychamber. Instead of celebrating during just one week in October, the Chamber engaged the members in a month long campaign where they submitted or were videoed giving brief testimonials about why they are members of the Chamber.  Everyday a new video was posted to the Chamber’s social media outlets.

“The idea came from our Marketing Manager, Robin Woodall, who has taken our social media presence to the next level,” said Lisa Hermes, President of the McKinney Chamber. “We understand that we need to communicate with our members and the community through various media outlets - social media is a big part of that. As we promote our members, brand the Chamber and tell the McKinney message it’s important for us to reach our audiences where they are.”

Part of the award’s criteria was to show the level of engagement the social media campaign had with members. The McKinney Chamber’s #luvmychamber campaign was one of the most shared and liked, gaining more followers and successfully telling the Chamber’s story.

The award was announced at TCCE’s annual conference in Corpus Christi. TCCE is an organization of chamber executives from across the state, working together to improve the business climate in Texas, while developing ways to enhance the quality of life in the communities that they represent.  For more information, please visit tcce.org.
