Since its start nearly three years ago, TAPS Public Transit’s regional shuttle to and from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field – The Airport Hop – has carried more than 4,000 passengers.

The low-cost, publicly-operated shuttle has added a fourth airport shuttle departure location, in Allen. The Airport Hop also picks up and drops off passengers in McKinney, Sherman and Durant, Okla.

A seat on The Airport Hop must be reserved, confirmed and prepaid. The shuttle does not operate unless a passenger has booked a trip. Passengers can make a reservation online at TAPSbus.com or by calling 1-800-256-0911. Customer service representatives are available by phone, Monday through Friday, 4:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.; and on Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

In Allen, The Airport Hop operates from the south parking garage adjacent to Allen Event Center, 200 E. Stacy Rd., at the Village at Allen shopping center. The location serves as a public transportation hub, and park and ride location. Shuttle passengers can use the garage for free overnight parking.

Public Transportation: An Affordable Choice

TAPS Public Transit CEO and Executive Director Brad Underwood said the shuttle service has become popular by offering affordable public transportation to and from under-served areas. “If you want to get to, or from, DFW or Love Field, it can be expensive. By providing a limited service, with fewer departure and return times, and by not offering residential or office pick up, our trip fares are kept very affordable,” said Underwood.

Fares vary based on the departure point. A round-trip fare to DFW or Love Field Dallas, from Allen, is $60 per person, or in a party of four or more, the round-trip fare is $40 per person.
