PLANO (June 25, 2015) — Over 200 vintage and one-of-a-kind Shelby Cobras and Mustangs roll into town this Saturday at the sixth annual Shelby Car Show, hosted by LegacyTexas at its Preston and Legacy banking center in Plano. Much anticipated by car collectors and enthusiasts, this year’s show pays tribute to the Ford Mustang GT350, celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The bank’s annual car show is the largest of its kind in Texas and will once again spotlight autos from the Shelby family’s private collection, including the 1949 MG driven by Carroll Shelby in his first race. Other show highlights include a popular lineup of muscle cars from Shelby American, the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and, back for only the second time in the show’s history, a 60-second race-of-the-engines tribute to the late automotive pioneer. The “rev” will commence at the high noon call of Shelby’s grandson, Aaron Shelby, “Gentlemen, start your engines.”
The rain-or-shine show opens at 10 a.m. at 5000 Legacy Drive and Preston Road and runs until 2 p.m. Co-hosted by the Shelby Cobra Association of Texas, the free community event is open to the public and will feature music by the Vic Duncan Band, limited edition memorabilia for purchase and items for bid in the Carroll Shelby Foundation silent auction.
