As part of the ongoing Texas Department of Transportation project to widen U.S. 75 from the Sam Rayburn Tollway to White Avenue in McKinney, TxDOT continues to work on the Eldorado Parkway bridge over U.S. 75. The next step in the construction is to place the beams for the north half of the new bridge.

To do this, TxDOT will have to temporarily close U.S. 75 overnight at Eldorado Parkway. They are splitting this work into two nights, one night for the northbound lanes and one night for the southbound lanes. The closures will affect the main lanes and the frontage road and will occur from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Eldorado Parkway over U.S. 75 will remain open during this time.

The closures and detours are as follows:

Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 – U.S. 75 NORTHBOUND

Main Lanes and Frontage Road

Closed 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The U.S. 75 northbound main lanes and frontage road will be closed at Eldorado Parkway. All U.S. 75 northbound traffic will be forced to exit onto SH 5. The detour route will take traffic to U.S. 380 then back to U.S. 75.

Traffic heading north on the Sam Rayburn Tollway to U.S. 75 will be forced to exit at Eldorado Parkway. The detour route will direct motorists to Park Central Drive then back to U.S. 75 north of Eldorado Parkway.

Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 – U.S. 75 SOUTHBOUND

Main Lanes and Frontage Road

Closed 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The U.S. 75 southbound main lanes and frontage road will be closed at Eldorado Parkway. All U.S. 75 southbound traffic will be forced to exit at Eldorado Parkway and will be routed onto Craig Drive. The detour route will direct motorists across Eldorado Parkway to Craig Drive South then back to U.S. 75.

As a reminder, this TxDOT construction project to widen U.S. 75 to four main lanes in each direction and three frontage road lanes in each direction will provide much needed extra capacity to the roadway. The project is anticipated to be complete in 2015.

Message boards will be placed along the roadway to alert motorists of the closure. This closure is subject to weather conditions and will be postponed, if necessary.

For more information about upcoming lane closures and traffic-related news along NTTA roadways, go to the "Scheduled Lane Closures" listing at ntta.org or call 214-224-3030.

The City of McKinney reminds drivers to be safe when traveling through the work zone and always observe traffic warning signs.
