Playtri recently signed a 10,908-square-foot retail lease in a building located at 7951 Collin McKinney Parkway (Times Square at Craig Ranch) in McKinney. Following its May opening, the new Playtri store will become the largest triathlon store, offering the most bikes, gear and tools for triathletes in the United States.
Unlike specialty shops that only offer niche products or services, Playtri’s onsite coaches and sports nutritionists deliver personalized health counsel, expert training and various fitness testing at the store’s Performance Center.
Playtri was represented by Ward Richmond, Chris Teesdale, SIOR and Tom Pearson, SIOR of Colliers International’s Supply Chain Real Estate Advisors in Dallas. The landlord, Mid-America Apartments, LP, was represented by Bry Taylor, with Bryson Messer Properties, LLC.
“As a triathlete and Playtri client for more than five years, I greatly value the resources and expertise they deliver. Local athletes now have further opportunity to gain a competitive advantage. With 400 clients and thousands of customers in the DFW area, Playtri has a large health footprint in the market,” said Ward Richmond, Vice President at Colliers International. “The entire staff is triathletes and certified full-time triathlon coaches and they provide expertise to match merchandise and equipment needs based on individual goals. They do not adhere to one-size-fits all training program.”
The Playtri Store will feature an extensive triathlon retail store, and the only full service Shimano Service Center in Texas. Playtri's retail philosophy is very unique in the industry by matching a customer's individual and specific goal as it applies to triathlons. This new facility will be a "must see" for triathletes that visit the North Texas area.
Playtri is well known for its individualized customer service and retail policy such as the 30-day exchange program on Bikes and Wheels. The policy allows a customer to purchase any new bike or new set of wheels and exchange them for equal or lesser value at no charge within 30 days. Playtri's staff is triathletes and they also understand that each individual is different, and they will set your Individual Plan to reach your Individual Goal by placing you in the correct training program, group class, giving you the personalized nutrition assistance and of course finding the right Bike, Wheel Set and accessories to reach your specific goal.
“We are an Olympic training center for amateur athletes. In order to best serve DFW, it was essential to partner with someone who is a triathlete and understands the business from an athlete and owner perspective. Ward played a vital role in helping us identify a location that would meet our business needs,” said Ahmed Zaher, Founder of Playtri. “This opening marks a continuing expansion for us – we already have a store in Dallas and we’re looking to open additional, but smaller, locations throughout the DFW Metroplex this year.”
“Our company goal is to make a healthy lifestyle through triathlon a mainstream way of life."
According to Playtri, Texas has the most triathletes in the country with DFW being the largest area of concentrated athletes (with more than 30,000) in the state. This year alone, Playtri is expecting more than 9,000 athletes to compete in their local races. Per USA Triathlon, the sport has drastically increased in the number of participants. In 1999 approximately 30,000 people completed a triathlon through USA Triathlon in the United States and in 2012 more than 500,000 completed one.
