The McKinney Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Danny Meyer will be working at the Chamber as an intern this summer. Meyer, a junior at the University of Texas at Dallas, is studying Global Business and International Political Economy. His interest in government affairs and business development and strategy drew him to the Chamber, and I paved the way for an internship.
Meyer was born in Germany and lived there for many years before moving to Phoenix, Ariz. “I never thought I was going to end up in Texas, but when I was recruited by UT-Dallas to play on their NCAA soccer team, I just couldn’t resist,” stated Meyer. “When I’m not busy working or going to school, I spend my time playing soccer, exploring north Texas on my trusty bike, and trying very hard to find an instrument that I can play despite my lack of rhythm. I am very much looking forward to the experiences I will make here.”
Danny will be learning a variety of aspects of the Chamber. He is going to be working with each department to get a hands-on learning experience from Membership, Communications, and Community Development. He will also have the opportunity to visit with some of our key community partners – like the McKinney Economic Development Corporation and McKinney Community Development Corporation to gain an understanding of what these entities provide to our community.
Lisa Hermes, President of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce stated, “We are excited to welcome Danny as part of our team this summer. He is a bright and ambitious student who will no doubt have a positive impact on our organization. It’s my goal to give him opportunities to learn by giving him projects in the Chamber he can get immersed in.”
