Charles Schwab, a provider of full-service brokerage services, announced the opening of a new independent branch in McKinney, Texas. The branch opened its doors on Friday, November 2, at 2775 South Central Expressway, Suite 140. The branch will offer investors local access to a full suite of investing and personal finance guidance, tools and products.
According to a press release, the new McKinney location is one of the first-of-its-kind Schwab franchise branches, part of a larger franchising initiative the firm announced in early 2011. Schwab’s decision to begin opening franchise branches, in addition to its more than 300 existing company-managed branches, is grounded in a commitment to make financial advice and guidance more accessible in local communities across the country. Schwab’s company-managed and independent branches will deliver the same suite of brokerage products and services, pricing, and overall client service and experience.
The McKinney branch is led by Schwab Independent Branch Leader Scott Parker, an investment and financial services professional with more than 16 years of experience. Prior to managing Schwab’s McKinney branch, Parker was a business development consultant at 1st Global in Dallas, where he worked with multi-partner CPA, accounting and estate planning attorney firms to build their holistic wealth management practices. Before his time with 1st Global, Parker was a team manager at Ameritrade Inc. where he was the point person for regular training of 300 traders and customer service representatives on financial services industry and capital markets issues and event. He also spent time at Fidelity Investments as a senior financial representative.
“As a resident of Collin County for over 37 years, I’ve seen first-hand that people in this area are looking for actionable investing help and guidance to plan for their specific financial goals,” said Parker. “Schwab has always been an advocate for the individual investor and strongly believes in providing local, face-to-face access to help, transparent pricing and investing resources. Putting clients’ needs first and offering access to the tools and resources they need to help meet their goals are of the utmost importance, and I’m proud to be the face of Schwab in the McKinney community that I’ve called home for so many years.”
Parker earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Baylor University and holds his Series 4, 7, 24, 53, 55, 63 and 65 licenses. He also holds his Life and Health Insurance License in Texas and Arkansas. He is married with two boys, volunteers on community boards and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
