The McKinney Police Department will again increase manpower on the streets to focus on stopping drunken driving during the Labor Day holiday weekend.
More patrols to keep McKinney's streets safe is made possible by a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). Officers in McKinney and throughout North Texas will participate in the “No-Refusal” campaign.
Search warrants will be sought to obtain blood samples for drivers being investigated for suspicion of drunken driving if they refuse to provide a blood or breath specimen to officers.
The blood samples will be sent for analysis and tested to show the blood alcohol content of suspected drunken drivers.
McKinney police officers urge anyone attending a social event with alcohol during the holidays to designate a sober driver, call someone to pick you up if you have been drinking, or just stay where you are.
