The McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau (MCVB) Board of Directors announced Monday that they are halting the search for a new Executive Director without naming a new director at this time, a decision reached during the group's annual Board retreat earlier this month.

“During the recent MCVB Board strategic planning retreat, we discussed the direction of the MCVB and reviewed the quality of work being produced by the current staff in promoting McKinney. We then reached the decision that we will not continue with the search process at this time,” Board chair Angie Bado said.

According to Bado, the MCVB will move forward with the three-member staff currently in place – Dee-dee Guerra, Interim Executive Director and Tourism Sales Manager; Beth Shumate, Communications/Marketing Manager; and Vanesa Baggett, Sales Rep/Administrative Assistant.

She also stated that the Board has notified all Executive Director applicants of the decision not to fill the position at this time.

“Over the summer, this staff took on additional responsibilities, based on their strengths, following the departure of our previous Executive Director, and we are very pleased with the job they are doing in handling their respective duties,” Bado said. “We feel confident they are well-suited to carry the organization forward based on the Board’s new strategic initiatives.”

The MCVB Board foresees reinitiating the Executive Director search within the coming year, as new opportunities for the MCVB develop.
