Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

After an application/selection process that began in April, the Leadership McKinney Class of 2013 has been selected. Twenty-six community members embark on this educational adventure as the Chamber’s nationally recognized leadership development program begins its 25th anniversary year, kicking off at the Alumni Reception and New Class Orientation on Thursday, August 9.

The Class of 2013 joins 458 alumni who have gone before them. During the next ten months, they will immerse themselves in McKinney as they have never done before and experience a challenging educational experience designed to equip them with leadership skills for the future. A critical piece of the program is the opportunity to work with nationally recognized futurist, Carolyn Corbin, President of the Center for the 21st Century. Using Ms. Corbin’s book, Community Leadership 4.0: Impacting a World Gone Wiki, the stage is set for dialogue amongst themselves, with Ms. Corbin, and with community leaders on the values of leadership and importance of community while using 21st Century thinking and process.

Scott Elliott with Torchmark Corporation and recent 2012 graduate shares: It was a complete privilege to be a part of the 2012 Leadership McKinney class - a great group of talented, hard-working, committed and caring people. I would like to say 'Thank You' to the Chamber for the vision to put this program together. Our community is a better place as a result of the training, education and leadership development that it provides.

Congratulations to the Leadership McKinney Class of 2013!
