Just in time for preservation month, McKinney Main Street will host an “Imagine the Possibilities Tour” in downtown McKinney on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. This three-hour showcase will correspond with the recent, statewide launch of DowntownTX.org by the Texas Historical Commission—a software application designed to revolutionize how businesses and investors can connect with local downtown property owners on potential business space and building investment opportunities in Texas’ historic downtowns. McKinney’s event is one of a series of similar tours being held across the state of Texas during the month of May 2017.
The tour will showcase available space and building investment opportunities to engage potential investors, entrepreneurs, business owners, and anyone else who has imagined themselves running a business, or investing in a property in downtown McKinney. Properties featured on the Downtown, TX site will be open and accessible in downtown McKinney on May 31, so attendees can tour and obtain additional information on the available spaces or investment opportunities.

BACKGROUND: The first of its kind, DowntownTX.org is an online building inventory for Texas downtowns featuring historic property listings. The concept originated in 2015 by the Town Square Initiative, an affiliate of the Teas Main Street Program, which focuses on the challenge of vacant and underutilized historic properties. The website was officially launched by the Texas Historical Commission on May 1 as part of Preservation Month with about 30 cities online.
Additional cities participating in the THC’s programs will be continually added through 2017. For more information on the website or to join DowntownTX.org, contact Emily Koller at email@example.com.
